Ana Josefa Garcia Ortega, 96, formerly of New York, of Carteret, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Care One in the Highlands. Ana was born in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic and moved to Woodside, New York where she resided since 1956. She retired from Bergdorf Goodman Department Store in Manhattan after 20 years, as a lingerie saleswoman. Ana loved her family and spending time with them. She was a natural care giver who cared for her family members. Ana was an elegant, social woman who enjoyed living life to the fullest.

She is predeceased by her parents, Maria Antigua Araujo and Pedro Francisco Garcia; two sisters, Juanita and Mercedes; and her brothers, Doctor Pedro Garcia, Ernesto and Rafael. Ana is survived by her loving children, Hugo Ortega and his wife, Norma and Anna Ferris; grandchildren, Gordon, Adrienne Ferris and her husband, Arcadio Grisi, Alison and her husband, Steven Xu, Jacquelyn Balla and her husband, Emmanuel and Ethan Ortega; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret from 2 PM to 6 PM.
