Elizabeth E. Geis, 94, of Carteret, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at R.W.J.U. Hospital at Rahway. She was born in Newark, lived in Woodbridge before moving to Carteret in 1954.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Carteret for many years. Elizabeth was a member of the Carteret Seniors and she volunteered regularly for years at Camp Kilmer in Piscataway serving food to homeless families. She was an avid bowler in her younger years and had a passion for cooking, especially Hungarian food.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Michael Tarnick; son, Ronald Geis; daughter, Carolyn Blackshaw; and her two sisters, Mary Geis and Beatrice Chaney.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph T. Geis; son, Joseph J. Geis and his wife, Debra; son-in-law, Richard Blackshaw; grandchildren, Dana (Anthony), Joseph C., Michelle (Brian), Amy and Richard Jr.; and other family and friends.

Funeral will be on Monday, October 6, 2025 starting at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Joseph Church in Carteret. Interment will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 3 PM to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in her memory would be appreciated.
