Emil J. Wachter, 80 of Carteret died on Friday May 24, 2024, at home. He was born in Carteret and lifelong resident. After graduating from Carteret High School, he entered the United States Army serving from 1961 to 1967. He had a long career with Exxon Chemicals spanning over 3 decades, retiring in 1998 as an Operations Supervisor. He then went on to work for Infineum USA for the next 7 years as a training coordinator for Operations/Mechanical. His family, children and grandchildren were above all, the most important thing in his life and he was blessed with many friends including granddogs and grandcats. He was an avid fisherman and captain of several boats, "The Sin or Swim", "The Full House", "Fool's Paradise" and "Fish Stixx". He loved golf and tried to hit the fairways as much as possible. Emil enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife as much as they could and several family Disney trips. Emil enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and on Cruise Ships.
Emil is predeceased by his mother and father, Gertrude and Frederick "Red" Sakker. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda C. Wachter, married for 25 years and together 37 years; brother Wayne Wachter; daughters Christine Truszkowski, Karen Pine and husband Troy Pine, Stepson Thomas W. Sharkey Jr. and wife Tamara; grandchildren Elyssa Wachter, Brian Truszkowski, Thomas R. Sharkey, Brandon Corvine, Joanna Purtell and husband Matt Purtell, Nicole LaBarbera, Diana LaBarbera and Zachary Casey; nieces Kimberly Abdolrazek and Kelly Wachter; and nephew Wayne Wachter Jr. and wife Jill Wachter. And many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave, Carteret, NJ 07008 on Thursday, May 30, 2024, 5-8pm. Friday, May 31, 2024, last respects can be paid at 9-9:30am followed by interment services at 11:00am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery (aka Doyle Veterans Cemetery Arneytown) Burlington County, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA.org). Emil was a proud veteran, patriot and loved and served our country.
