October 26, 1934 – February 20, 2026
Gloria Sabol, 91, formerly of Port Reading, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Center for Hope Hospice. She was born in Carteret and lived there until moving to Port Reading in 1961. She was a member of the Port Reading and Fords Senior groups. Gloria loved her Atlantic City trips, game night with her family and especially, playing Bingo.
Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary (Arva) Bodnar. Husband George A. Sabol. Daughters Anna Sabol and Gloria Kologi. Sister Olga Icavone.
Survived by sons George (Lynda) and John (Jill) Sabol. Daughters Lorraine Riveley (Walter), Susan Burns (Michael), Theresa DeMuro (Nicholas). Grandchildren, Michael Riveley, Phillip Riveley, Kerri Rinaldi, Patrick Burns, Kevin Burns, Katelyn Morin, Dr. Ashley Sabol, Jeremy Sabol, Brittany Bomermann, Nicholas DeMuro IV and Madison Kologi. 9 great grandchildren. Her brother Joseph Bodnar, sisters Margaret Horvath and Eleanor Salato.
Funeral will be on Thursday, February 26, 2026 starting at 9:15 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Port Reading. Interment will take place at St. James Cemetery in Woodbridge. Visititation will be on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 4 PM to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains in her memory would be appreciated.
