IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard Phillip
Baldwin
July 31, 1930 – February 18, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Howard P. Baldwin, who passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2026 in Athens, Georgia surrounded by his family.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey, but spent the majority of his life in Carteret, New Jersey. He was proud to call it his hometown. It was there that he built his life, raised his family, and formed lifelong friendships.
A proud veteran, he answered the call to serve his country with honor and dedication. His time in the military was something he carried with quiet pride throughout his life. The discipline, loyalty, and strength he embodied were reflections of that service and those values shaped the man his family and friends came to know and respect.
He was known for his strong hands and mechanical mind, always happiest with a set of tools nearby. Working on cars wasn't just a hobby, it was a true passion. Whether he was under the hood in his driveway or helping a neighbor get back on the road, he took pride in fixing things and figuring them out. Many will remember stopping by to talk cars, share a story, or simply spend time in his company.
He was predeceased by his devoted spouse, Alice K. Baldwin and his daughter, Darlene Baldwin. He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Cook and her husband, Randy Cook, and Denise Rogers and her husband, Gregory Rogers; his granddaughters, Kelly Brooks and her husband, Shane Brooks, and Krystyn Rogers; his step-granddaughters, Billie Barry and her husband, Jay Barry, and Shannon Burgos and her husband, Luis Burgos; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Thompson, Drew Thompson, Jaxon Brooks, Jayden Barry, Jayllie Barry, Delilah Burgos, and Amelia Burgos; and his great-great-grandchildren, Easton, Oakleigh, and Tatum.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25th, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, NJ. A 10:00 AM Mass will follow at Divine Mercy Parish – Holy Family Church in Carteret, with interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
He leaves behind a legacy of honor, strength, loyalty, and love. Though he may be gone from our sight, the lessons he taught, the values he lived by, and the friendships he built will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
