James E. Dewitz, 79, of Sewaren, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, grew up in Carteret, NJ and settled in Sewaren, NJ.

James was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He was an active member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge.

He is predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Leo Dewitz. James is survived by his sisters, Patricia Colaci and Linda Dewitz Roe; brothers, George, Robert and William Dewitz; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 10 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, followed by Interment at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will be on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 7 PM to 9 PM.
