John F. Hornak Jr., 68, of Carteret, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at JFK Hospital in Edison. He was born in Elizabeth and was a life-long resident of Carteret. He was a 1975 Carteret High School Graduate and studied electrical engineering at Middlesex County College. John was the owner of CJ Repairs LLC in Carteret. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church/Divine Mercy Parish in Carteret. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus Carey Council 1280 Carteret and a past member of the Carteret Honorary PBA Local 47.
John was deeply interested in national politics; he was equally devoted to his local community, where he generously shared his time and ideas to support Carteret's ongoing revitalization. On Sundays after mass you could find John with his mother, Angelina at the Carteret Bus Stop.
He was an avid music lover, he especially loved southern rock. John enjoyed watching local cover bands perform with his friends and family, as well as attending concerts at the Carteret Performing Arts Center.
He is predeceased by his father, John F. Hornak Sr. and his sister, Donna M. Marek. John is survived by his loving daughters, Rachel McDaniel and Ashley Page; his mother, Angelina T. Hornak; his nieces, Dana Arena (Thomas) and Allyson Heath (Kennedy); his great nephew, Brady Heath; and many Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish-Holy Family Church in Carteret, followed by private cremation. Visitation will be on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret from 5 PM to 8 PM. K of C will hold their ritual at 7:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Divine Mercy Parish in Carteret in John's memory would be appreciated.
