Jose M. Serantes, 57, of Carteret, died suddenly on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Manhattan, New York and was a life- long resident of Carteret. Jose was a proud 1988 graduate of Carteret High School. He worked for 35 years at Newark Liberty International Airport for UPS.

Jose was a beloved fixture at the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars halls in Carteret. He loved spending time with his friends. Jose had a passion for travel, especially going on cruises.

Jose was known for his beautiful smile and infectious laugh. He was so full of life and he had the biggest heart. He will be missed by all.

He is predeceased by his parents, Milagros and Jose B. Serantes; and his Aunt, Luz C. Del Campo. Jose is survived by his loving brother, Harold Serantes; beloved cousin, Pilar Pereira and her husband, Alvany; two adored nephews, Aviel and Ayden; his Aunt Elaine and all of his close friends that became family.

Funeral will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 starting at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue , Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Joseph Church in Carteret. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory would be appreciated.
