On October 13, 2026, Martha Seamans Viater passed away at home at the age of 96. Born in Hillside, New Jersey, the family then moved to Linden, NJ, where she remained until she married and then lived the remainder of her years in Carteret, NJ.

Martha is predeceased by her husband, John Viater and son, John Viater Jr., her parents, Thomas R. Seamans and Marie Mazur Seamans. Her siblings who predeceased her were Ronald Seamans, Andrew Seamans, Thomas R. Seamans II, Margaret Loveday, Marie Klunder, Catherine Knapp and Winifred Martino.

Martha is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.

Her hobbies were knitting and crossword puzzles and anything that stimulated her mind and intelligence.

There will be a graveside burial at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 11:30 AM. All are welcome to attend. Arrangements were held under the care of Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret, NJ.
