Mary Jane "Cookie" Keratt, 81, of Carteret, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at R.W.J.U. Hospital at Rahway. She was born in Rahway and was a life-long resident of Carteret. Cookie worked many places before she settled at the Borough of Carteret as the secretary for the Zoning and Planning Dept. She was a life-long parishioner of Holy Family Church in Carteret, where she was also a member of the Rosarians.

She enjoyed baking cookies for all her family and friends. Cookie enjoyed going to Broadway Shows and instilled the love of theater in her daughter.

She is predeceased by her parents, Jennie and Robert Keratt; her brothers, Robert "Butch" Keratt, Anthony Lewis Keratt and her nephew, Robert W. Keratt. Cookie is survived by her loving daughter, Kristen Umansky; sister, Barbara Viater; nephew, Daniel Viater; niece, Jean Keratt; nephew, Robert Keratt; niece Leslie Payne; great nephew, Zachary Payne; great niece, Elizabeth Keratt; great nephew, Robert V. Keratt and many other beloved family and friends.

Funeral will be on Monday, April 7, 2025 starting at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave., Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at Divine Mercy Parish-Holy Family Church in Carteret. Private cremation will follow. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2 PM to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Divine Mercy Parish may be made in her Memory.
