Norma Grace Elbel (Smith) 89, of Carteret, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rossiter, PA and moved to Carteret in 1963 and has been a life- long resident.

She raised six children with patience and care. Norma was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived fully, laughed often and loved deeply. Norma created a loving home, where everyone was welcome.

She is predeceased by her first husband, James R. Smith; her second husband, George K. Elbel; her two sisters and her nine brothers. Norma is survived by her loving children, Lois Schnorrbusch (Russell), Gary Smith (Patty), Jerry Smith, Dennis Smith (Denise), Richard Smith (Carmi) and Robert Smith (Michelina); 11 grandchildren, Kelly, Scott, Gary, Jason, Elizabeth, John, Dennis, Jacqueline, Joseph, Mitchell and Rachel; 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, James and Keith; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue, Carteret from 3 PM to 6 PM. Private Cremation will be held.
