Obituary

Robert B. Monaghan, 88, of Carteret, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at home.

Robert was a life -long family man, always stopping home at the family’s house in Carteret to check on his mom and dad. After serving in the Army, he took to a life of flying aircraft and training future young pilots in the civil aviation. He was the Chief Pilot in Embry-Riddle Department of Flight in Florida. Robert also lived in England for a number of years training RAF Pilots in Dover. After the winter of 1978, Robert moved to Florida and never lost his love for that state.

He was a lifelong skier, ice skater, fisherman and spent thousands of hours enjoying these activities, most of the time inviting his family to come along. Tailwind Always – PJM II

Robert is survived by his son, Patrick J. Monaghan; granddaughter, Shannon Monaghan; loving cousin and caregiver, Richard Albrecht and his wife, Karen; and dozens of other nieces and nephews.
